Vyacheslav Bohodelov, a former goalkeeping coach of Dynamo and PFC Oleksandriya, who has been leading the Ukrainian free agents' team for nine years, told us who he had coached in this team.
- Oleksandr Aliyev played for our team. We also called Maxim Shatskykh! He never played for us, though, because the tournament was held on artificial turf - there was a risk of an old injury recurring. I could not risk such a person. Vova Humeniuk, who played for the national team of Ukraine, Tavria and Metalist, also came and played for our team.
There was also Zhenya Chumak. He made his debut for Dynamo so brightly, played in the Europa League, and then his career went downhill, unfortunately. I offered him one club, but he chose another option. Later, he ended up in Uzbekistan and disappeared from sight. I don't even know where he is now. He is a good footballer, but something didn't work out.
- How did Aliyev behave with you? Did you have any problems with him?
- I don't know why people are so skeptical about him. I have a great relationship with him. I trained him and managed him. If you don't provoke him to do all this bullshit, he is a perfectly adequate person. Is he sometimes tough and rude? I don't know, it never happened to me. We worked perfectly well together.
- Well, he has such a scandalous image in the media.
- Everyone in my and your circle drinks. However, some people are called drunks, while others are not. I have never understood this. I won't name names, but I know professional players who, along with Aliyev and Artem Milevsky, also had a very good time. However, they did not show up anywhere. Someone knows how to hide it and not get caught, and someone doesn't.
I have a good attitude towards Sanya. Especially lately. I see that he helps the army. I think that all this is real and not populism. I had no problems with Aliyev at all. I am also on good terms with Milevsky.
When I worked at Dynamo-3, and they were coming down to the bottom, they had a superior attitude. Like, who are you? And when they grew up and were beaten up a bit by life... I think they are normal guys. They are just stars and they get a lot of attention. One of them is now helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the other joined the IGNIS media league team. People are not drunk, they are not lost. This is also good.
- How did Aliyev look in training and games under your leadership?
- No matter what anyone says, he is a footballer! You can have a person who will look you in the eye, try his best, but he will not produce results. Aliyev needs a slightly different attitude. This doesn't mean that he needs to be flattered or pushed around, but normal respect is important.
- Was it not beneath Aliyev and Shatsky to come to your team?
- Of course, it was. I can't say that it was a humiliation for them, but when I asked them, I heard: "No, Palych, what free agents?!". Well, somehow we found a common language.
