After the match of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian championship between Vorskla and Obolon, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Poltava team, the Kyiv team had many complaints against referee Serhiy Zadiran, who, in particular, disallowed the home team's goal.
Former FIFA referee Miroslav Stupar gave his assessment of the episode with the disallowed goal:
"With the score 1-0 in favor of Vorskla, referee Zadiran killed the intrigue by canceling Sukhanov's clean goal. I don't know what prompted Zadiran to make such a decision, because the visiting striker did not play with his hand. In this episode, the referee should have recorded the goal, and if in doubt, asked for help from VAR. Oddly enough, the bully took over, and for some reason VAR referee Kozyryatsky did not react to the referee's erroneous verdict.
In this game episode, the behavior of Vorskla's players was indicative. If Sukhanov had played with his hand, they would have signaled the referee about this violation. This was not observed, so everything was according to the rules. So, thanks to the referee's effective mistake, Vorskla won the match where the opponent played better," Stupar said.
