Oleksandr Shovkovskiy: "Even in this experimental lineup we had no right to give such a surprise to the opponent"

Head coach of Kyiv Dynamo Oleksandr Shovkovskiy on the air of UPL.TV summarized the results of his team's match with Lviv Karpaty (3:1) in the 3rd round of the Ukrainian Championship, which took place today in Lviv.

- Today's match was not an easy one for your team?

- Certainly, it is the beginning of the season. Especially, we are now playing in two days on the third, in three days on the fourth. Therefore, there are certain not that there are problems, but a certain stage in our life, which we have to go through, and which, among other things, includes certain moments of logistics. However, we have to be prepared for that.

But in the same way, keeping in mind our first match against Salzburg for qualification to the main stage of the Champions League, we had a small rotation of the squad today, gave rest to some players, especially since some of them have minor problems. Therefore, today we had an experimental lineup.

But even so, we had no right to give such a surprise to the opponent (we are talking about the missed goal in the first minute of the match - ed. note), and the chances we had, we had to realize, bringing the score to a more acceptable for us. In any case, I congratulate Dynamo fans on the victory. We are preparing further.

- Are you satisfied with the experiment with the lineup?

- A coach can never be satisfied. It was the first time you played with such a bunch of central defenders. Besides, Tymchik missed a lot, and today at the end of the match it was very, very difficult for him. He was silent as a fighter, didn`t say anything, although we agreed with the guys that we should say right away if there are any problems.

Justin Lonwijk did not enter the game very successfully. We planned that he would play more, but we had to make a substitution.

In short, there are things we need to work on. This is creative and at the same time responsible work, which never ends. We are preparing for the next game. Now the main thing for us is to have a good rest.

- Yarmolenko, who came on as a substitute, was a kind of projection of calmness?

- With his experience, understanding of the game and the fact that he is one of the leaders of the team both in the locker room and on the field, he should strengthen the game, which, in principle, he did today. Although, again, we had enough chances today to bring the game to its logical conclusion more calmly.

- What will be the next schedule for your team?

- Tomorrow we will have a training session in Lviv, and immediately after lunch we will go to Lublin. There we will recover and prepare for the first match against Salzburg.
