Shakhtar central defender Marlon has been granted a free agent status and is looking for a new club, according to the Brazilian publication Globo Esporte.
According to the publication, 4 clubs are interested in the player: "Vasco da Gama, Botafogo, Internacional and Alaves. Negotiations on the signing of an agreement between the clubs and the player are not underway. The 28-year-old Marlon is without a contract and can join a new team even after the transfer window closes.
The publication claims that Marlon activated one of FIFA's mechanisms to terminate the agreement with the Ukrainian club because of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Earlier, Al Ain reported that the club was going to sign a contract with the player. The deal fell through due to discrepancies in the results of the Brazilian's medical examinations. "Al Ain deleted the post about the player's transfer from its Twitter page.
