Former Dynamo player Vasyl Kardash shared his impressions of the first Champions League qualifying playoff match between Dynamo Kyiv and Salzburg Austria, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Kyiv team:
"As for me, Kyiv deserved at least one goal. Moreover, if Andriy Yarmolenko hadn't wasted his scoring chances at 0-0, it could have ended in Dynamo's favor. But the goal factor worked: unlike Kyiv, the visitors scored twice.
Although, in my opinion, the level of play demonstrated by the nominal hosts was quite high. However, everything was negated by both collective and individual mistakes of the Kyiv team. In the end, luck was not on Dynamo's side in Lublin either. Just recall the episode when it seemed that the ball had nowhere to go, when suddenly a post appeared on its way to the goal.
Of course, we should pay tribute to Salzburg's youth for their focus on attack, mobility, and attempts to show spectacular football, but I don't think the hosts will feel confident in the return leg in a week's time.
One well-aimed "shot" by Kyiv can return the intrigue, and when it is made in the opening of the match. Therefore, I am convinced that this confrontation is not over yet. I believe in Dynamo," said Kardash.
