Head coach of "Alexandria" Ruslan Rotan commented on the victory of his team over Shakhtar Donetsk (4:3) in yesterday's match of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian championship.
"Showed character. The character of the team. You understand perfectly well how hard it is to gather when you lose 0:2 and turn the game around. Especially in a match with such an opponent as Shakhtar. Therefore, this is a big positive moment. Hopefully, this match will give a reference point to what we are striving for.
I really liked the way our team looked in the second half: they were aggressive, compact, knew what they wanted. As a result, at the start of the second half we almost secured the result. But in terms of playing with the ball we have a lot to work on. The most important thing is that the guys have an understanding of what needs to be done. I think we will improve this component of our game.
We withstood a kind of exam - a match with the national champion. But there is a big "but": what's next? And then, I can say 100%, our opponents will have a completely different attitude towards us: they will tune in to Oleksandriya the way we tuned in to Shakhtar today. We must be ready for it. So a new test awaits us - a test of the opponents' aggression. We will have to work hard. And we should not be over the moon after today's victory: we are doing our job and going towards our goal," Rotan said at the post-match press conference.
