Yuriy Koval, now the former head coach of Luhansk's Zorya, commented on his resignation to the TaToTake telegram channel.
- There is no need to dramatize the situation. The club president and I are in constant contact and from the very beginning we understood that my role as head coach was temporary, and the search for a long-term mentor did not stop.
"Zorya should not fall below a certain level - the zone of competition for European Cups. If the team lacks emotion, it needs to be shaken up. At least, in the next match, Mladen Bartulovic will do it. Then an adequate decision will be made on the candidacy of a new coach.
- What about you?
- I remain in the position of sports director, which I combined with the leadership of the first team. I will continue to work with the U-19s and oversee the relationship between the youngsters and the Zorya first team. Everything is simple. There are no good and bad coaches. There are those who achieve results and those who do not. I didn't say that. It was Beckenbauer.
- Why doesn't Zorya president Yevhen Heller consider Mladen Bartulovic's candidacy?
- Who told you that he is not considering him? Bartulovic is one of the candidates and perhaps the main figure on the list.
We worked in tandem, sharing responsibilities equally. I personally believe in him. Along with Rotan, Shandruk, Ashur, Kobin, Ponomarev, and Lupashko, he represents a generation of young professionals with their own ideas, fresh energy, and good emotions.
- Do you have a feeling that the team didn't fight hard enough for you in recent matches?
- This is a stereotype. Nowadays, no player plays for coaches. Everyone has a personal contract. If someone is not motivated, it is the coach's job to feel it and rotate them. Somewhere I didn't believe my intuition, and the result suffered. But the responsibility was on me. So I have no resentment towards the players.
