Kovalets may replace Ivashchenko as head coach of "Obolon"

As already reported, already today the head coach of Kyiv Obolon Valeriy Ivashchenko may be sent into retirement. In case of such a development of the situation, one of the candidates for the position of the Brewers' coach may become a well-known Ukrainian coach Serhiy Kovalets.

The 55-year-old specialist is well known to the president of FC Obolon Oleksandr Slobodian, as he has repeatedly worked at this club - first as a player, and then as a coach.

In the season-2002/03 and in the first round of the season-2003/04 Kovalets helped the newcomer to the elite of Obolon on the soccer field, and after stepping on the coaching path, returned to the team as head coach. It was during the winter intermission of the 2009/10 season. Since then, Serhiy Kovalets worked at Obolon for almost two years, and when the capital club had a new need to change the coach (it was before the 2018/19 season, when the Brewers played in the First League), the same specialist was invited again.
