"Leicester wins appeal against EPL

"Leicester has won an appeal in a case that could have resulted in the club's deduction of points in the Premier League this season.

As you know, the EPL's financial fair play rules limit the losses that a club can cover over a three-year period to 105 million pounds.

Leicester's loss for the three-year period ending June 30, 2023, amounted to as much as £129.4 million, which is £24.4 million more than the maximum allowed limit.

However, during the hearings, the independent commission agreed with Leicester's arguments that it was not within the EPL's jurisdiction to punish the club, as the Foxes left the top flight at the end of the 2023/24 season and already belonged to the Football League at the time the charges were announced.

This decision virtually deprives the EPL of the authority to deduct points from Leicester for violating FFP rules, as it did from Everton and Nottingham Forest last season.
