Former Dynamo goalkeeper Svyatoslav Syrota told an interesting story about the famous AC Milan player Gennaro Gattuso and Dynamo legend Andriy Biba.
Svyatoslav Syrota recalled how he was an assistant to the head coach in the match between the world and USSR national teams, which was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Khoren Ohanesyan. The goalkeeper said that after that game, Gennaro Gattuso made a toast in honor of Andrii Biba.
"There was a moment when we were sitting together. And then the Italian Gennaro Gattuso raised his glass and said the following words: "Here, among us, there is a powerful man who has won several world championships, despite the circumstances in which he lived. I raise this glass to him."
I translate, everyone listens and wonders who he is talking about. And then Gattuso turns to Andriy Andriyovych Biba: "I'm talking about you. I have great respect for you." And Biba looks at me and says: "Is he poisoning me? How does he know me?" I answered: "You are a famous person, you are known not only in Ukraine but also in the world, and you should understand this." It was very nice that our footballers, even the older generation, are known and respected," said Sirota.
