Former Juventus, Inter and Italian national team striker Salvatore Scillaci, who became the top scorer at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, died today at the age of 59 after a serious illness.
The future scorer was born in Palermo on December 1, 1964 and learned to play football at a local school. At the World Cup, which took place in the Apennines, Scillaci scored six times, and in total he had 7 goals in 16 matches for the national team.
He suffered from colon cancer and had two surgeries.
