Andrei Polunin: "The game with Lazio was a failure of all defenders and Brazhko"

Former Ukraine national team player Andriy Polunin dwelled on the vulnerabilities at Dynamo, which helped its rival Lazio to a convincing 3-0 victory in the first game of the Europa League group stage:

"As far as I am concerned, the game was a failure of all defenders and support Vladimir Brazhko, who was unsuccessful on rebounds. By the way, in one of the last matches in the UPL mentor Oleksandr Shovkovskiy has already trusted Brazhko a place in the center of defense and then he played reliably. Perhaps, we should have tried again, because with the selection of performers, which was yesterday in Hamburg, Kyiv's defense resembled a kind of passing yard.

By the way, I wouldn't criticize Andriy Yarmolenko for the game with Lazio. In the structure of the game, on which Shovkovskiy chose, he was needed.

If we take into account the statistical data, Kyiv were practically not inferior to the Romans, except for the realization. And this is exactly the evidence of the difference in class. It was also striking that Lazio players are stronger physically, which helped them to take the upper hand in one-on-one battles. But we have what we have. The disappointing defeats are also an experience and a reassessment of values. Because after each such sensitive failure, the prices for Dynamo players are more and more in line with reality," said Polunin.
