Former Dynamo defender Volodymyr Horilyi commented on Kyiv's game against Lazio in the Europa League, which ended in a 0-3 defeat for Kyiv.
Volodymyr Horilyi- What was the reason for Dynamo's big defeat?
- The reason? The ugly play of the central defenders. They conceded childish goals. And, of course, a quick missed ball had a negative impact on Dynamo. Now Kyiv has a big problem in the game of central defenders. If in the Ukrainian championship everything is forgiven, then at the level of the Champions League and the Europa League everything is punished. In the first half, only when the score was 0-3, before the break in the 41st minute, there were two dangerous shots from Brazhko and Yarmolenko. Before that, Dynamo hadn't created anything dangerous at the opponent's goal.
- The first missed goal. Seballos lost a single combat in the center - and a goal.
- In addition, Dia passed through Mykhavko and Tymchyk in the center and scored easily.
- The second goal. Brazhko threw the ball to the opponent, who in one touch led to the goal of Dele Bashir and as a result - the score is 0: 2.
- And again, everything in the center was the responsibility of Mykhavko and Bilovar. It must be said that Brazhko played this match at a weak level. There were a lot of losses and deficiencies, a lot of lost fights. When two central defenders play uncertainly, it affects the play of the wingers. In the center, there should be at least one experienced player who can give suggestions and sometimes react harshly to play strictly.
- And the third goal! When the ball was sent from the flank, the two center backs Mykhavko and Bilovar stood holding each other almost by the hands while the opponent from their zone scored a goal.
- That's what I said! No experience at this level. The defenders were catching up with the forwards all game, seeing only their number. One coach said: "If a defender 'reads' a striker's number, he is not a defender." At the end of the match, the exhausted Mykhavko had to jump on the opponent to stop him with his hands. This suggests that Dynamo is not ready in terms of function.
- Before the game, the same Mikhavko said: "There is only one task - to win against Lazio. It sounds loud, but... it turned out to be 0-3. Apparently, he didn't realize that he was playing against Lazio, not LNZ or Rukh. If he had said after the game: "We had a task to win, and we did it," then he would be honored and praised. But these are empty words. Do you agree?
- Again, due to inexperience. It's not just him who has empty words. The players of our national team also have many slogans: "We will 'die' on the field for the sake of our soldiers, for the honor of the country, and the ending is the same as with Lazio.
- Lazio has an equivalent squad of 16-17 players. The head coach has the option of not starting leading players such as Zaccagni, Isaksen, Hila, Tavares, Gendouzi and others. This shows the strength of the team. Dynamo does not have this. What can you offer your opponent in such circumstances?
- Those players who replaced the main ones played at a very decent level. Pressing, quick work with the ball, using their chances, and good functional readiness - this is Lazio's advantage. And we had Bilovar instead of the injured Ceballos - and it was not good. Bragaru comes on and gets a red card in a stupid situation. Such unsuccessful substitutions decide the outcome of the match. And as I said earlier, the weak play of the entire central defense and midfield axis led to such a big defeat for Dynamo. "Lazio is a different level of players, performance skills, where players can make goals out of a trace element. They clearly demonstrated this. The Italian and Ukrainian championships are "two big differences."
