Sergiy Nagornyak: "Putting on the shirt of the national team of Ukraine, players should leave all their club problems at home"

Former football player and head coach of Epicenter Serhiy Nagornyak explained the reason for the unsatisfactory results of the Ukrainian national team in the UEFA Nations League.

"To understand what the problem is, you need to be there, inside. Analyzing what is published in the press, we can assume that the team lacks unity. In general, many factors can influence this result. The only thing that is clear is that there is something wrong with the game and the results," Nagornyak said.

According to him, the responsibility for the team's results always lies with the head coach.

"There is only one law of football: only one person is always responsible for the result - the head coach. All responsibility lies with him. He gathers these players, unites them, selects the tactics for the game, so he is the only one responsible for the result," the former footballer explained.

At the same time, he emphasized that every player of the Ukrainian national team needs to improve the quality of their game.

"All players need to improve in everything. Putting on the national team shirt in this difficult time, players should leave all their club problems at home and, as they say, "die" on the field," Serhiy is convinced.

In addition, Nagornyak assured that it is incorrect to compare the performances of the national and youth teams, because they play football of different intensity.

"We have some good players in the youth team, but it's a completely different kind of football. You cannot compare the main team with the youth team in terms of intensity and responsibility. The national team is the highest level of a football player and the responsibility there is ten times higher. Of course, the youth team has its own responsibility, but it cannot be compared to the senior national team," he summarized.
