In the first half, the legendary Argentine forward Lionel Messi put on a show, scoring goals in the 45th and 45+5 minutes. After the break, Columbus reduced the deficit, but Inter quickly responded with a goal by Luis Suarez.
This victory brought Messi his second title in Miami - the Supporters' Shield. This trophy is awarded to the MLS team that scored the most points during the regular season, becoming the winner of the first stage of the competition.
