"Reading the news every morning is a ritual for me. Off the field, I always think about the situation in Ukraine because I am worried about my parents and my sister who still live there. When I go out on the field, I forget about the situation, I think about football, and it's a small part of the day when you can enjoy a football match without the situation like in my country.

I talk to my relatives, they are elderly people, they don't want to move even to another city in Ukraine. They have a house, everything in that city. When we talk, we are talking not only about the war. We talk about family, other things in life. They are also worried about us because we are in a new country with our children, and they want to make sure that we are okay.

I heard the sounds of the explosions, my children heard it, and it shouldn't be like that. As a father, I had to ensure the safety of my family. I traveled a lot and I didn't see my family much because they lived in Poland, and I sometimes lived in Ukraine, sometimes in Poland, sometimes in Germany, I traveled a lot by bus and train. I'm not a young man, and it was hard for me. So I decided to change the situation and come to America. I also wanted to experience something different, a new country, a new language. I left my comfort zone and now I'm happy that I did it.

A month ago, my wife went on a visit to Ukraine and she realized that we live in safety here, and our children don't need to hear these sounds of explosions, sirens and other military things, and this is what we have to do as parents, to protect our children," Krivtsov said in an interview with The Miami Herald.
