"Hey, goalkeeper, get ready for battle, sentry you are set at the gate, you imagine that behind you the border strip is coming...".
These are the words of a song from the popular movie "The Goalkeeper" (1936). Its episodes were filmed at the Dynamo stadium in Kiev. There was a small role in this movie and the guardian of the gates of Kyiv Dynamo players Anton Leonardovich Idzkovsky.
I myself was a goalkeeper many years ago. I didn't achieve much success, although as a member of Dynamo Kyiv youth team I became the USSR champion in 1960. I am very proud of that. I was invited to the Dynamo double.
However, my mother insisted that I entered Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University. In this famous university I got a diploma in English as a translator-referent. But I will say that when I entered, having a gold medal in soccer was beneficial.
There was a good soccer team at the university at that time, it won the student championship of Kiev. For several years I defended its gates.
But I became a master of sports in another sport - rugby, I won the title of vice-champion of the country among adults.
But let's get back to soccer. Dynamo goalkeepers were always in the center of my attention. And there were a lot of them - reliable performers - for almost a hundred-year history of the club. I have seen the game of all of them, except for two.
Anton Idzkovsky (1907-1995). A native of Kiev, Honored Master of Sports, Honored Coach of Ukraine.
He, a 20-year-old goalkeeper of the Kiev club "Gostorgskluzhashchy" Dynamo players invited him to their team. In the uniform of this glorious team he played in 1928-1941 and 1944-1945. In the USSR championships he played 64 matches. Silver medalist of the national championship-1936, bronze - 1937. Champion of Ukraine (1931), three times winner of the Cup (1937, 1938, 1944). He was a member of the national teams: Ukraine (1930-1939) and the USSR (1932-1934).
Soccer fans who were lucky enough to see Anton Idzkovskiy play, remembered his lightning-fast reaction, enviable jumping ability, thanks to which he got "dead balls". On the goal line was attentive, reliable. And this at a height of ... 174 centimeters.
After the end of his career Anton Leonardovich worked in FFU. In his time he trained Oleg Makarov, Yevhen Lemeshko, Viktor Bannikov for the main Dynamo squad.
I remember two trainings, conducted by Idzkovskiy with us, goalkeepers of youth Dynamo, in the summer of 1960 before leaving for the final tournament of the USSR championship in Michurinsk. The advice of the outstanding master came in handy. We became champions.
Nikolai Trusevich (1909-1943). In 1936, a capable goalkeeper of Odessa "Pischevik" received an invitation to Kiev "Dynamo". And two years later he was included in the list of "55 best players of the USSR championship". Nikolai was in it goalkeeper number 2, conceding the championship only to Anatoly Akimov. Trusevich's collection includes "silver" and "bronze" of the USSR championships.
In the USSR championships the goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv played 59 matches. He was the champion (1936) and the winner of the Cup of Ukraine (1937, 1938). He played in the USSR national team.
The Dynamo player was one of the best goalkeepers of the country in the second half of the 30s of the last century. He possessed an outstanding talent, was one of the first to play all over the penalty area, was characterized by courage, balanced character.
During the years of occupation of Kiev Trusevich played for the team of bakery "Start", which held matches with the teams of the occupants. In 1943, together with Dynamo teammates Alexey Klimenko and Ivan Kuzmenko died in Kiev, in Syretsk concentration camp ...
