Real Madrid has officially announced that it has extended its contract with defender Dani Carvajal.
The day before, Carvajal joined the team's infirmary. He was injured in stoppage time in the 2-0 win over Villarreal and left the field on a medical stretcher. The player was diagnosed with a torn ACL and several other ligaments. The player's recovery will take about 12 months. Despite this, the club announced on Twitter that it had extended the contract with its captain. The new agreement runs until June 2026.
"Real Madrid would like to express all our support and love to him and wishes him a speedy recovery so that we can enjoy his football as soon as possible," the club said in an official statement.
