Dmytro Mykhailenko: "There are new players whom the coaching staff wants to see with their own eyes"

Ukraine's U-19 national team (players not older than 2006), which will play in the Euro 2025 (U-19) qualifying round in November, began a training camp in Spain on October 6. There, the blue and yellows will play in a tournament with the participation of four national teams. The competitions will be held according to the Olympic system, but it should be noted that three participants will have players of the U-18 age category in the application. On October 11, the semifinals Ukraine - Netherlands and England - Sweden will take place. The third place match and the final are scheduled for October 14. The head coach of our team, Dmytro Mykhailenko, told the UAF official website about the current work.

- "At this training camp, two matches at the tournament in Marbella will be like a springboard to find the best combinations of players in defense and attack," said the coach. "We need good sparring sessions to understand which players are best used in different tactical schemes.

We have new players whom the coaching staff wants to see with their own eyes. These are the players who proved to be excellent in September and October at the club level. And after this training camp, we will decide who will go to the European Championship qualifiers.

We have a lot of competition, there are very talented midfielders, and there are many players who look good in attack, but we need to understand how these guys will look at the national team level.

Despite the fact that we will face teams that are a year younger in sparring matches at the training camp in Spain, the importance of the games does not change. First of all, we look at our players. We need to understand for ourselves which players are better to use in a given situation. We haven't been working together for long, but we have performers who like it better when the team defends, and there is a group of players who want to attack more. All this needs to be brought to a common denominator. We need to use every chance to have better chemistry so that we can approach the official matches prepared in the best possible way.
