Oleg Salenko told how he was exploited in Israel

Former Dynamo striker Oleh Salenko, who scored five goals at the 1994 World Cup, told an unusual story about how he was bought for a million dollars from Kyiv and sold two days later for three million.

- "Dynamo Kyiv changed owners and in just three days agreed on my transfer to Maccabi Tel Aviv. I flew to Tel Aviv and underwent a medical examination. I signed a contract with Maccabi for only three days, just before the World Cup. Then Logrones rented me with a one-million buyout option. At the same time, my clause was to be increased to 3 million. "Logrones did not agree to pay it, so another solution was proposed - Valencia," the veteran told One.co.il.

The source notes that the amount of $3 million for the transfer in 1992 was unusual and high for Israeli football. In the same year, Gheorghe Haji moved from Real Madrid to Brescia for the same amount, and now the transfer value is about $33 million, given the inflation that exists in football.
