"What a horror... Volodymyr Lazarenko, one of the most interesting people for me in national football and science, has passed away. Volodymyr worked for many years as one of the key specialists of the famous scientific unit created by Lobanovsky and Bazylevych many years ago.

Back in the mid-80s, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academician V.M. Glushkov Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and from then until 2008 he was one of the key researchers at the Dynamo Research Center, and from 2008 to the present he has been in charge of the scientific team of the Ukrainian national teams of all ages, from the national team to the youth teams. It was he and his colleagues - Anatolii Zelentsov and Sashko Kozlov - who Lobanovskyi always relied on when thinking about the training process for each player and for the teams as a whole.

To a large extent, it is thanks to Volodymyr Ivanovych Lazarenko and his colleagues that VVL went down in the history of world football with the FIFA definition of "Scientist in Football". Since the 90s, I haven't made a single movie about football or written a single book without Lazarenko's advice and helpful comments. And Volodya was filmed with us both in Dynamo Galaxy and in Basil. For me, he has always been a high-level consultant, a friendly advisor, and a friend," Sluchevsky wrote on his Facebook page.
