The former head coach of Dynamo Kyiv, Mircea Lucescu, told why he decided to take over the Romanian national team.

Mircea Lucescu

"There was a moment when I realized that I had to thank Romanian football for everything it had given me. It's been 8 months since I finished my coaching career, but I'm not done with football. I took care of my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, but then I also realized that I had a duty and I had to fulfill it by ending my career as the head coach of the Romanian national team.

The experience made me wiser in my relationship with the players, with the game, with everything that happens in the world of football. My presence helps as long as my health allows me and as long as I have enthusiasm. That's what made me come back to football - enthusiasm," Eurosport quoted Lucescu as saying.
