Willie Sagnol- What did your team lack today to win?
- You have to realize that the first 30 minutes of our game was a disaster. Our actions lacked intensity, aggressiveness. With such a game Ukraine deserved to take the lead.
Then we improved, but, unfortunately, we did not have enough chances, chances to score. To win, you have to constantly not only maintain your level, but also constantly improve your game. This is what we did not do today. Congratulations to the Ukraine national team.
- Perhaps there was an underestimation of the opponent and lack of motivation due to the leading position of your team in the group before this match?
- No, it's not about motivation at all. We wanted everything, I saw the desire of the team. Today for two thirds of the match we controlled the game and were the best team on the pitch. But it happened that we lost.
We need to analyze everything carefully. Because if you remember our match with the Czech Republic, we also started the match badly, but then we corrected ourselves and managed to win. Today we repeated the situation, but without the necessary result. So this is a space for us to work, to improve. It is good, because we have something to work on. We realize that we are not a top team, we are not Italy or Germany, we are Georgia, and we understand our level and we realize that we need to improve and work a lot. Besides, maybe today we lacked a little bit of the team spirit that I am used to seeing lately.
