The honored coach of Ukraine Myron Markevych shared his thoughts on the match of the 3rd round of the main stage of the Champions League "Arsenal" — "Shakhtar".
Myron Markevych— What are your impressions of the match "Arsenal" — "Shakhtar"?
— At the beginning of the game, our team was nervous, but then "Shakhtar" looked dignified, although unfortunately they lost. However, based on such a game, they could have played to a draw. I liked "Shakhtar". They looked decent against such a strong team. I definitely saw progress compared to the matches against "Bologna" and "Atalanta". "Shakhtar" showed that they can compete with difficult opponents.
— "Shakhtar" has 0 goals scored in three rounds of the Champions League and only two shots on target. What do you think is the problem?
— Unfortunately, "Shakhtar" lacks forwards who can finish the match. This problem is not only present in "Shakhtar," but also in other Ukrainian teams. Sikan and Traore are not Champions League level. "Shakhtar" needs to look for a forward.
— Who would you name as the best player of the match?
— Sudakov looked good, Bondarenko at times too, and the Brazilians came on strong as substitutes. Riznyk played excellently, saving a penalty. He did concede a bizarre goal, but that’s not his fault. If I had to choose one, I would give the "Man of the Match" to Sudakov. I don't know what "Shakhtar's" plans are for him, but he's a player that can be offered to serious clubs.
— And who didn't you like in the game?
— I've already mentioned the forwards. Unfortunately, there is also a lack of consistency in Zubkov's play. With his attributes, he can perform better.
— Pedrinho and Kevin strengthened "Shakhtar's" game. Why doesn't Pushych start them?
— I don't know, that's the coach's business. But in my opinion, these Brazilians need to play more often. When they came onto the field, they brought speed and creativity to "Shakhtar's" game.
— The next match for "Shakhtar" in the Champions League will be against "Young Boys". Can we expect a win there?
— We'll see. "Shakhtar" has a busy schedule plus travels. And "Young Boys" is not an easy team, it definitely won't be easy, but of course, they need to start winning. So, I wish "Shakhtar" only success against the Swiss.
— On October 27, there will be a classic match "Dynamo" — "Shakhtar". What is your prediction for the match?
— At the moment, "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar" are two absolutely equal teams. I think it will end in a draw, and I would like it to be a high-scoring one.
