During the Radio Dictation of National Unity, one of the significant periods in the history of Kyiv "Dynamo" was mentioned.
In the text "The Magic of Voice," written specifically for Radio Dictation-2024, an excerpt dedicated to the football club "Dynamo" was heard. It spoke about the club’s performances during the years of the Soviet Union from 1960 to 1980.
“And in the 1960s-1980s, when the only allowed form of patriotism was cheering for Kyiv's 'Dynamo', Ukraine fell in love with the voices of football commentators. They were recognized at half a word, in their modulations one caught, as if a breath of fresh air, solidarity with their own and outrage at the privileges of the Muscovites, whom the referees favored in decisive matches,” the text of the Radio Dictation said.
Let us remind that in 1961, "Dynamo" interrupted the 29-year hegemony of Moscow clubs winning the USSR championship. In total, by 1980, "Dynamo" became the champion of the USSR nine times. The closest pursuers - Moscow "Torpedo" and "Spartak" - won the championship title only three times during this period.
In the 1970s, "Dynamo" achieved its greatest successes on the European stage: it reached the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup three times. And in 1975, it won the Cup Winners' Cup - the first European trophy in the history of the Kyiv club. In 1975, "Dynamo" forward Oleg Blokhin became the first Ukrainian to win the title of the best football player in the world - the "Golden Ball".
Overall, in the 1960s-1980s, it won 16 trophies. In the last 10 years of its stay in the USSR, the Kyiv team added another 11 titles to their collection, including in 1986 when they became the holders of the Cup Winners' Cup for the second time.
