The forward of “Roma” and the Ukrainian national team Artem Dovbik spoke about adapting to the Roman club, explained the origin of his nickname “Machine” and admitted what advice he received from Andriy Shevchenko.
“There is always pressure in clubs like ‘Roma’, and I am ready for it. The main thing is that the team and the head coach believe in me, support me. I was warmly welcomed here. Football without pressure is not football. You constantly need motivation. Pressure is adrenaline; playing under it is better. I understand that there were great forwards in ‘Roma’ — Dzeko, Lukaku, Batistuta. But that was their path. I want to be the new Dovbik. To show what I am capable of and to play the best football here.
“Machine”? That's what my teammates call me, who see how I work in the gym. In Ukraine, everyone knows who Shevchenko is — the best player in the history of the Ukrainian national team and Ukrainian football. He won the “Golden Ball”. When he was the national team coach, he gave me advice that I then used: to be more aggressive, stronger, and hungrier in the penalty area,” said Dovbik.
