Alexander Shovkovsky's team started the match quite actively and, despite serious personnel changes in the starting lineup, seized the initiative from the first minutes of the encounter.
The first interesting moment at "Vorskla" goal occurred in the 16th minute of the game when Andriyevsky decided to shoot from a free kick about twenty-five meters away — the ball flew near the post, but Isenko was in control of the situation. The hosts, who were clearly playing defensively, also tried to shoot at the first opportunity from a convenient position. However, they managed to open the scoring in the match after a well-played counterattack: Kane passed from the center to the left flank to Korniyenko, and the defender swiftly crossed in the center of the "white-blue" penalty area, where an unmarked Iede shot past Neshcheret — 1:0.
After conceding a goal, Dynamo players charged forward to equalize. Our team managed to achieve its goal literally a few minutes later: Skliar fouled against Voloshin in the penalty area, and the referee immediately pointed to the "spot." Guerrero clearly converted the penalty kick! This was the striker's debut goal for "Dynamo"! 1:1.
Having equalized the score, the Kyiv team continued to dominate the field, creating at least one more dangerous moment at Isenko's goal. Guerrero received a beautiful pass from the flank to the center of the penalty area and shot low past the goalkeeper — only the defender Khripchuk managed to block the Panamanian's shot in time.
Photo — Alexander PopovAfter the break, the match dynamics did not change: "Dynamo" continued to create moments at the Poltava goal. In the 69th minute, Guerrero could have scored a double, but after his low shot from ten meters, Khripchuk managed to clear the ball from the penalty area at the last moment. "Vorskla" responded with two attempts by Iede. First, the striker's shot was parried by Neshcheret, and another minute later, the forward shot wide of the goal.
However, despite the considerable number of dangerous moments, the teams could not determine the stronger player in the second half, and the game moved into two additional extra-time periods. At first, closer to victory were the Poltavians, who failed to score in the 96th minute. Only thanks to Neshcheret's selfless play did Ndukwe miss a great opportunity.
But Kyivites fully capitalized on their chance just four minutes later! After a long shot from Voloshin, Isenko deflected the ball in front of him, and Vanat was the first to follow up, who accurately directed the ball into the net of the opponents' goal — 1:2! In the remaining time, the hosts tried to save the match, but the "white-blues" managed to bring matters to a victorious end. Our team is in the quarterfinals of the Ukrainian Cup!
