Dynamo Kyiv forward Eduardo Guerrero shared his impressions of the cup clash with Poltava’s Vorskla (2:1), in which he scored the first goal (from a penalty) for his team.
— Congratulations on your debut goal for Dynamo! What emotions did it give you?
— Now I feel much better, as I hadn’t scored a goal in many matches, and that’s important for a forward.
— Why was the game so difficult?
— The start of the match was hard for us, after all we conceded a goal. Cup games are often like this, especially when you play an away knockout match. Especially against a team that defends very tightly and looks for its chances.
— Did you know before the game that you would take the penalty if the team earned one, or was it decided right before the kick?
— We decided that before the game. Andriyevskyi told me that if we earn a penalty, I will take the 11-meter shot. That gave me confidence for the match as a whole. When we earned a penalty, I felt calm before the kick.
— Were you ready for a penalty shootout if extra time also ended in a draw?
— Yes, we prepared for various scenarios, including a penalty shootout.
— The team is now playing every two days in different cities and countries. How do you feel?
— Of course, it adds fatigue, as we spend a lot of time on the road and have little time to rest. But I don’t complain; it’s my job.
