Forward Andriy Yarmolenko, in an interview with the press service of Hamburg, shared what Kyiv’s Dynamo means to him.
— "Dynamo" is the most popular club in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of boys dream of playing here, and I am no exception. But even in my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined that I would be able to enter so deeply into the history of this club. The feeling when Dynamo fans euphorically shout your name or when you lift the cup in the shape of this great club is beyond words.
Now we are playing international matches in Hamburg. But I will say honestly: we have no other option. We cannot play in our own country, in our own city, with our own fans. You all know the reason for this: it is the barbaric aggressive war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. The additional burden has been the long trips for our Euro matches. But compared to what our country is going through, this is small change.
We are very grateful to Hamburg for their support. I would also like to thank the entire German people for supporting our country. We appreciate German hospitality and hope that international matches will return to Ukrainian stadiums as soon as possible. I really want local fans to join Ukrainians in Germany and support us in the upcoming home games," Andriy said.
