The head coach of Vorskla, Yuriy Maksymov, shared his thoughts on the victory over Chornomorets in the 13th round of the Ukrainian championship — 1:0.
“We understood that we are in a completely different championship — we are fighting for survival. Today, as they say, was a 6-point game. The guys tried hard. The most important thing is that they fight.
Somewhere we were unlucky with Veres — in the last minutes we conceded, ended up 2:2, with Kolos — we scored an own goal. Today luck returned.
I am very grateful to the guys for their efforts, for their situation in the standings. Just gratitude. I was afraid that we would concede a goal in the last minutes because when you are leading, the team sits back in its half of the pitch and wants to hold the score.
We had many moments in the first half, but we didn’t take a single shot. We wanted to somehow bring it into the penalty area, some little area — we are not playing hockey. With Kolos as well, zero shots on goal. I don’t understand — we need to shoot at goal, then the goals will come,” said Maksymov.
