The famous former Ukrainian forward Sergey Chuychenko shared his thoughts on the heavy defeat of Kyiv’s Dynamo against the Hungarian Ferencváros (0:4) in the 4th round of the main stage of the Europa League.
«It’s disappointing that in the 17th minute, Vladislav Dubinchak was sent off after accidentally stepping on the foot of a player from the Hungarian team while on the sidelines. Naturally, referees are strict in such cases now.
Playing with ten men is always difficult. And it doesn’t matter who the opponent is in this case. Moreover, it should be noted that the red card was shown at the very beginning of the match. I liked the first half from the “white-blues.” Even being a man down, the Kyiv team played, tried to attack, and even had chances to score.
But in the second half of the match, serious mistakes began to appear, and the first goal was conceded. Probably by the second half, the Dynamo players were physically worn out. Ferencváros began to take control, and the mistakes made led to goals against Kyiv.
When Dynamo conceded the second goal, it was pretty much clear. And then, realizing that it would be hard to achieve a result, the Kyiv team’s coach decided to substitute the leaders. This was done so that the key players could rest before the next UPL match against Polesie, which will take place on November 10. The schedule for Kyiv is tight. Naturally, it’s not easy to play after two days on the third. That’s why Alexander Shovkovsky let the main players rest, whom he substituted,” Chuychenko said.
