Expert Alex Velykykh explained the reasons for the recent unconvincing results of Dynamo and Shakhtar on the international stage.
— Unfortunately, the poor performances of Ukrainian clubs have become unpleasant for most fans, but it is important to remember and remind what conditions people live, train, and breathe in. This is not an attempt at justification, but a factor that affects everything, including clubs, the national team, individual players, and specialists. Transfers, questions of recovery, etc., also have an impact, but not a decisive one. The composition of teams is also not formed as thoroughly as club presidents would like, but there is a war, and taking a player from a country that is fighting for survival is very difficult.
Fans' expectations as a whole were formed based on past achievements, and the difficult present requires positive emotions at least from athletes, players of the leading clubs in the country. Unfortunately, there is little positivity in the results.
In my opinion, Shakhtar is playing in the Champions League and may still have transfer prospects regarding legionnaires. However, Dynamo must analyze the market for Ukrainian players more effectively and strengthen the squad with its own graduates and UPL players, as it has a high level of historical appeal for local players. Undoubtedly, it is difficult to compare times, but in the tough 90s, people also went through difficult moments in life, and then the revived Lobanovsky's Dynamo gave people moments of happiness. The club's management remembers this well, and perhaps they will be able to return moments of joy to fans for the team's successes even in more challenging conditions than back then," said Velykykh.
