The former head coach of Kyiv’s Dynamo and the Ukrainian national team Yozhef Sabo talked about what he expects from the Nations League match Georgia — Ukraine, which will take place tomorrow in Batumi.
— Unfortunately, the national team has personnel problems: either one player got sick, or another, or there’s an injury, — Yozhef Yozhefovich began his comment. – The coach has to change players like gloves. In this situation, Serhiy Rebrov must invite guys from different teams into the national team — particularly from Rukh.
But the question is how high the level of each player is. Sometimes I watch our footballers, how they control the ball, advance with it, how they make passes... Very weak guys. Very... But there’s nothing to be done: we must make do with what we have.
— What do you think our national team can expect in Saturday’s match against Georgia?
— I would like to be wrong, but I think we will lose. The Georgians have a good team. Moreover, they will be playing in Batumi. There will be few Ukrainians there, as we know what is happening in Georgia, this Russian influence.
— What would you highlight in the actions of the Georgian footballers from the first game against Ukraine (0:1) in Poznań, Poland?
— We all saw that match, so we remember that the Georgians had quite a few opportunities and could have scored. But that’s football.
— To date, in encounters with Georgia, the Ukrainian national team has had positive results — there has been no recorded defeat.
— That’s true. But we were lucky when we defeated the Georgian team in October. Now our opponent will play on their own field, where they will feel more comfortable. Moreover, there will be changes in the composition of the Ukrainian national team for Saturday’s game. But we will see.
