The coach of the Hungarian national team was hospitalized during the Nations League match

Assistant coach of the Hungarian national team Adam Szalai was hospitalized during the Nations League match against the Netherlands (0:4), which took place in Amsterdam.

Reuters reports that 36-year-old Szalai fell ill after seven minutes of the match. The staff and bench players of Hungary surrounded the coach while doctors provided him with medical assistance. The match was delayed for 13 minutes before the Hungarian players agreed to resume play after consultations.

The Hungarian federation reported on social media that Szalai was taken for examination to a hospital in Amsterdam and is conscious.

“The referee asked if we wanted to continue, and my players answered positively. Adam is conscious, can talk, so everything is fine,” explained Hungary's head coach Marco Rossi at the press conference after the match.

Szalai, a former forward of the national team, reached out to fans on social media after the incident.

“Thank you very much for the messages. I am doing well,” the Hungarian posted on Instagram.
