Roman Salenko: “I am determined to fight for a place in the first team”

Midfielder Roman Salenko shared his emotions after debuting for the main team of “Dynamo,” which took place in the match against “Chornomorets” (3:1).

— Congratulations on your debut for the first team of “Dynamo”! How do you feel now?

— Of course, I am very happy. All the guys supported me when I came on as a substitute, there was a bit of humor, so I entered the field with a smile.

— Humor aside, what did the coach say before going onto the field?

— Do everything as in training—calmly, confidently. Overall, there were no further instructions.

— Does your father give you any advice on how to act on the field in certain situations?

— Of course, sometimes he gives advice, but for the most part, I listen to what the coach says. My father is one thing, but when there is an instruction for the game—that’s completely different.

— Overall, after the match. Did you expect such a game from “Chornomorets”?

— Yes. We expected a tough game. Although they haven’t gained many points, they mostly lost to opponents by narrow margins.

— So it wasn’t an easy game for “Dynamo” today?

— Of course, “Chornomorets” was motivated to play against “Dynamo,” eager to prove themselves, not wanting to face embarrassment. Basically, all teams prepare that way.

— What’s next? Are you returning to the youth team, or will you continue working with the main team?

— Right now I’m returning to the youth team, which we have to play against in the UEFA Youth League mid-week. But, of course, I am determined to fight for a place in the first team and prove my right to play at the adult level.
