Head coach of “Left Bank” Vitaliy Pervak shared his impressions of the match of the 14th round of the Ukrainian championship where his team faced off against “Rukh”, in which the Kyivans lost — 0:1:
“Yesterday the result was paramount, as both teams desperately needed points. Therefore, there was a lot of fighting before the break; no one wanted to give in.
I believe a draw would have been fair, but in added time a penalty was awarded against us that wasn’t justified. We reviewed the video of that episode numerous times and it is clearly visible that our defender Yakymiv was first to the ball. The referee Denis Shurman and VAR referee Anastasiia Romaniuk should have noted that, but for some reason, she did not. The matter didn’t even reach additional review.
In the second half, the style of play changed, as we had to come back and we went forward with great effort. There were free zones in our defense, and the Lviv team attacked dangerously several times. There were half-chances for “Left Bank” as well, but the score didn’t change. You can’t blame the players for their effort and attitude, but it’s not the first time we have been hurt by a refereeing mistake,” said Pervak.
