Former player of the Ukrainian national team Ivan Hetsko expressed his opinion on the forwards of the national team — Artem Dovbyk and Roman Yaremchuk.
“A lot depends on what functional state the players are in. We know very well that Dovbyk and Yaremchuk can score.
For me, it is a big mystery why they both do not play on the field for the national team. I think it would not be bad to try to release both Dovbyk and Yaremchuk in some matches. It could be a “killer” duo.
One player is at least playing against Artem, so there may be space for others. Opponents pay special attention to Dovbyk, which is why he is not performing well in the national team. In my opinion, Dovbyk and Yaremchuk are players of approximately the same level, so I would not single anyone out.
Roman is not doing well in Greece at all, I don’t know why. At first, it seemed that it would be easier for him in Olympiacos than in Brugge and Benfica, but he was not accepted there. It seems that something happened in the team. There are many stars in the club, perhaps the coach sees that Yaremchuk's level is not at the highest level, which is why there is no trust. And without trust, it is hard to go out and score.
If the situation does not change, then Roman will have to change clubs. Sitting on the bench at his age and not getting playing time is not good,” said Hetsko.
