On Thursday, November 28, in the match of the 5th round of the group stage of the Europa League, Kyiv’s “Dynamo” lost to the Czech “Victoria” with a score of 1:2. The match was nominally a home game for the Ukrainian team, but due to the war, it took place in Hamburg at the “Volksparkstadion.” We present to you the post-match press conference of the head coach of “Victoria”, Miroslav Koubek.
Miroslav Koubek— Is this the next great European evening for “Victoria”?
— Definitely yes, because we defeated a strong team. Especially at the end of the match, they showed their great strength.
Our goal was to disrupt the opponent’s game structure through high pressing and attacks. “Dynamo” is a very good team in terms of combinations, and it was their combinatorial play that we wanted to prevent. I think we managed this well in the first half. The opponent also created their moments, but we were effective in the second half.
— What is the strength of “Victoria” on the European stage?
— It relates to our development. We started with the Conference League, and now we are competing in the Europa League. The team proves its strength, develops mentally, and above all, gains experience. This team has learned to play on the European stage. At the same time, we believe in ourselves, and this really pushes us forward.
— Matej Vydra scored a beautiful goal. What do you think of his game?
— He is in excellent form. Matej also scored a beautiful goal in Liberec; he has quality plays and his qualities that he consistently proves in training, he manifests them in matches.
— Where do you see the best qualities in your team?
— Our strength lies in good teamwork and organization. Our actions are excellent in terms of coherence and clarity of tactical plan execution. This is our strength. Teamwork is a distinctive feature of Czech football.
