Hackers attacked Bologna and demand ransom for stolen data

Bologna has fallen victim to a cyber attack, during which hackers carried out a mass theft of documents.

The stolen documents include contracts and medical records of players, staff, and managers, as well as personal documents, banking details, and information about personal accounts and the club’s balances. The hacker group RansomHub has claimed responsibility for the computer attack. The amount of data acquired by the hackers is around 200 gigabytes: there is a threat that it will be published if the club does not pay the ransom by the end of the week.

The Football Club Bologna 1909 Spa announces that its security systems recently suffered a ransomware attack on a cloud server and on the internal perimeter. This criminal activity has led to the theft of company data, which may be published. Therefore, we warn anyone who receives such data not to disseminate, transfer, or use it in any other way on the grounds that it is a crime,” the official statement from Bologna reads.
