Ingulets goalkeeper sets new UPL record

Ingulets goalkeeper from Petrovo, Alexey Palamarchuk, saved a penalty in yesterday's match of the 15th round of the Ukrainian championship against Poltava’s Vorskla (3:0), setting a new individual UPL record.

Alexey Palamarchuk

This is the fifth consecutive penalty saved by the 33-year-old goalkeeper, which has never been achieved by anyone in the history of the Ukrainian championship.

The previous unique achievement until yesterday belonged to the current goalkeeper of Donetsk’s Shakhtar, Dmitry Riznyk: while playing for Vorskla in the 2021/22 season, he saved four penalties in a row. It should be noted that at that time five consecutive penalties were also missed, but after one of those shots, the ball hit the post, so it cannot be said that Riznyk saved a penalty in that case.

As for Palamarchuk, in his record streak, he saved penalties in matches against Karpaty (9th round), LNZ (10th round), Oleksandriya (11th round), Shakhtar (14th round), and Vorskla (15th round).
