It is noteworthy that last season, when Dynamo became champions, our team lost to Kovalivka twice. A tough game was not expected this time for Igor Kostyuk's charges, especially considering the time spent by the "white-blues" returning home after their UEFA Youth League match against "2 Corriku" midweek.
Dynamo started the match actively, and already in the debut of the meeting, Ponomarenko forced the goalkeeper to work with a long-range shot. In general, the guests actively pressed the opponent, but at the same time, the Kovalivka team also found opportunities to respond. In particular, in one of the episodes, Bezyruchuk had a dangerous header, but the ball flew past the goal.
The "white-blues" continued to aim, with shots from Ponomarenko, Peikrishvili, and Ishchenko, but they did not bring particular danger to the hosts' possession. However, tensions on the field were rising, resulting in yellow cards for three Dynamo players and our team's coach Igor Kostyuk.
Before the break, Surkis had to intervene, reacting to Merva's cunning shot. So the teams went for a break with a score of 0:0.
After the break, the pattern of the game did not change. Dynamo maintained the initiative, trying to find keys to the opponent's possession, but Kovalivka quite skillfully coped with the pressure. Surkis was forced into action one more time, parrying a dangerous header from Shershen. Kremchanin came close to opening the scoring. In a deadly position, Dmitriy shot almost point-blank, but the goalkeeper managed to react and deflected the ball.
Ponomarenko was also active up front, looking for his chance to score, but each time the ball was blocked by the goalkeeper after Matviy's attempts. Selenko had a dangerous shot, but the goalkeeper played reliably once again, and Ponomarenko failed to react for a possible follow-up. In the last minutes, the exchange of shots continued, but with the same "success," that is, without any goals.
As a result, 0:0 — "Dynamo" loses points and gives "Shakhtar" a chance to pull ahead.
