Former midfielder of Kyiv «Dynamo» Serhiy Mizin spoke about what was lacking for Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team in the Europa League match against Czech «Viktoria», in which they lost 1:2.
— In short, it was the executional mastery. After all, yesterday Kyivans did not lag behind Plzeň in creating goal-scoring chances, but in terms of realization, the opponent was better. Kabayev's goal in added time is a separate issue, as the Kyiv player made a high pass and was lucky that the ball unexpectedly dove into the upper corner of the goal.
Unfortunately, once again there was a lack of a decisive accurate shot, a precise final pass. And if in the UPL championship these gaps in preparation are not very noticeable due to the weakness of the opponents, then on the international stage it immediately catches the eye, because there the counterparts are much stronger.
And still now, the Dynamo players desperately lack experienced leaders who would lead them on the field, who would be listened to in the locker room. I am sure that at this difficult time, veteran Andriy Yarmolenko would have been of great help to Kyivans, but he is injured.
Of course, these recent failures in the Europa League are demoralizing, but there’s nothing you can do; that’s the level of our football players. Still, we can hope that by taking some hits on the international stage, the Kyivans will learn from their mistakes and gradually improve, although not as quickly as one would like, — said Mizin.
