“Roma” shifted the responsibility for the misspelling of Dovbyk’s surname on the jersey to the supplier

As previously reported, in a recent match of the Italian Championship “Roma” – “Atalanta” (0:2), the Ukrainian forward of the home team Artem Dovbyk played in a jersey that had his surname misspelled: instead of “Dovbyk,” it read “Dobvik” on the player’s back.

This incident caused various debates in Italy, and ultimately, “Roma” had to respond. However, the Roman club did not make excuses but simply shifted the responsibility for what happened onto the supplier.

“Roma” explained that the club receives ready-made stickers with the players' surnames in packs of 100 from the supplier (who, by the way, services all Serie A clubs), to whom all questions regarding errors in these inscriptions should be addressed.

“In the warehouse, there are virtually no incorrect stickers. Therefore, the reasons for the error can be different, but one cannot rule out human error in this complex printing process,” the comment from “Roma” also states.
