The "Golden Ball" was awarded to two Dynamo players — Bohdan Redushko and Demian Tretiak. The Dynamo players won two categories (defensive player and attacking player) in the U-19 category.
I want to write a bit more about the winners and evaluate their prospects in the first team of "Dynamo".
Bohdan Redushko is a native of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. His father is his childhood coach. If I’m not mistaken, he is also involved in the selection for "Dynamo" in his region.
Redushko is one of the main talents. Last season he started playing for the youth team. Currently, he is a player for the first team "Dynamo U-19", but not always in the starting lineup (10 matches and 4 goals). The huge competition in the midfield does not allow Bohdan to play more. His versatility is a plus. Redushko can play in all positions in the midfield. He can play in the defensive zone, as an inside forward, or as a winger. He is a versatile footballer, well physically shaped, with speed and technical abilities.
With the Ukraine national team of 2007, he passed qualification for the Euro. The competition in midfield there is crazy — Oleksandr Dragan ("Atalanta"), Bohdan Olichenko ("Bayern"), Andrei Vakulyuk ("Benfica"). In my opinion, Redushko was the best player of the Ukraine national team in the elite round in early March 2024, when Yurii Moroza's team won all three matches and did not concede a single goal.
In the next season, Redushko will have a chance to become one of the leaders of the youth team "Dynamo". Due to age, Roman Salenko in the midfield and on the wings — Andrii Matkevych and Dmytro Kremchanin — will not be able to play. The competition for the inside forward position will remain serious — Davyd Bilyi, Kyrylo Osypenko, Pavlo Lusin, Aleksandre Paikreashvili. Therefore, Bohdan has better chances to play on the flank, where the competition is less.
I tend to think that Redushko is a midfielder. He has a very good understanding of football. In the midfield, he will be able to realize himself better. Life will show how it will be. The chances of getting into the training camp with the first team are very low. There are enough players in the midfield for Oleksandr Shovkovskyi. Plus, Roman Salenko is being called up to the first team for this position.
Demian Tretiak is a native of the city of Dnipro. He trained in the Academy of the same club until 2022. After the war began, he ended up in Croatia. He immediately passed the selection for "Dynamo" (Zagreb). He was in the system of the Zagreb club for a year and a half. He plays for the age categories of 2006 and 2007. The Croats wanted to keep him and were ready to pay compensation for his training, but did not agree with "Dnipro".
In the summer of 2023, he returned to Ukraine and signed a contract with Kyiv's "Dynamo". Last season he debuted for "Dynamo U-19". He played for the second youth team and "Dynamo U-17".
In June, during the final match of the UAF U-19, he suffered an injury to his shin in a match against "Nyva" (Vinnytsia). He missed all summer training. He went for playing practice with several other "Dynamo" players to the youth team of "Zoria", where he spent the first part of the season. He did not always play there, as he was recovering from his injuries.
In the Ukraine national team of 2007, he is a key player. He passed the qualification for the youth Euro. He played well in the elite round when the Ukrainians did not concede a single goal. After the tournament in Greece, media began to write about interest in Tretiak from Manchester United.
The competition in central defense at "Dynamo U-19" is just insane. Two players from 2005 — Nazar Balaba and Yegor Syzyonuk. From 2006 — Vladyslav Zakharchenko and Maksym Korobov. From 2007 last season, they brought Fedir Kolomiyets, who was once at "Barcelona" and returned from Spain to Ukraine.
In the next season, Tretiak has every chance to become a key player on the youth team. Balaba and Syzyonuk will drop out due to age. It’s possible that someone of them will go on loan in winter. Korobov remains, who is also used on the right flank of defense, and Zakharchenko. Kolomiyets was frankly disappointing when he played. He failed the first half against "Obolon" and was substituted. He lacks speed. In winter, he can also try to win the competition.
By playing style, Tretiak is a modern defender. Quick, he works well with the ball, starts attacks. He feels comfortable in physical battles and in one-on-one situations. He can play with a high defensive line.
We will only be able to talk about the first team when Tretiak is playing consistently for "Dynamo U-19", and after the winter transfer campaign. Paradoxically, but for now, Tretiak has more chances for the first team of "Dynamo" than Redushko, because there are problems in the center of defense.
