President of "Veres": "We proposed to create another tournament - the League Cup, because we really play very few games"

President of "Veres" Ivan Nadyein spoke about new projects that the club is considering.

"League Cup. We proposed to create another tournament because today we really play very few games. This concerns Ukrainian clubs that will not participate in European competitions and have few representatives in various national teams. And this includes most Ukrainian teams in the UPL.

We play 30 official games in a season. Plus, maybe one or two matches, depending on how far we go in the Cup. And this is catastrophically few for our championship. We need to orient ourselves towards leagues that hold 40 or more games. This immediately gives an advantage to those championships and clubs that simply play more.

It provides more opportunities to involve young people, develop statistics, which is very important for player value. Plus, it’s the playing experience, which is invaluable compared to those friendly matches that we actually play in place of official matches.

For example, we have a lot of free time where these games can be scheduled. If this is done in the middle of the week, there will be greater intensity. Why do they show better results in Europe? Because they simply play more.

It is also a marketing opportunity for UPL TV to develop. Therefore, I believe that more games is the right strategy. And we really have put forward such an initiative. A few clubs have already supported it," said Nadyein.
