The Italians are pleased that Artem Dovbyk is scoring goals again. The Ukrainian forward’s “drought” lasted a month and a half; he last scored against Verona in a match that took place on November 3. Interestingly, after the game, Roma fans are not captivated by Dovbyk’s play and goals but rather express satisfaction that the Ukrainian striker has ended his goal drought. Dovbyk’s performance is described as not particularly confident, yet he is still considered one of the best in Roma’s squad. Although this is hard to call a great compliment since fans believe the level of this team is extremely low, they rate Dovbyk more as a good-level forward, but without any special flair.
Artem DovbykI also noted that many Italians feel Dovbyk plays without sports aggression and anger, not particularly joyful even after scoring. Hence, Roma fans are unsure if Dovbyk is truly happy to play for their team.
Alessio: Let’s hope this double will give Dovbyk a boost of confidence. Recently, there have been many questions about him from the coaching staff and fans. Ideally, Artem should score in every game, but let’s say that’s fantasy; for starters, at least he does it more often than once every month and a half.
Liden: Ranieri should have placed proper players on the flanks earlier and explained what needs to be done. Dovbyk can even calmly win duels against three or four defenders because he acts wisely, rather than blindly trying to win shoulder-to-shoulder battles.
Davide: Dovbyk has a goal-scoring instinct; he knows when to chase the ball until the end and when to hold back and hope for a rebound. That’s why he scores goals that may seem very simple from the outside. However, not every forward can be in the right place at the right time.
Miato: Dovbyk is like a hawk waiting for his prey. As soon as it relaxes a little, the Ukrainian already knows what to do and attacks. This is his strong point, which is why he consistently scores goals.
Loria: This is what Dovbyk should do. He almost has chances in every match, but his finishing is not at the highest level. This is one of the reasons our club is now in such a difficult position in all tournaments.
Principe: Dovbyk scored two goals and supposedly deserves praise, but again the Ukrainian missed an excellent chance he should have scored. Dovbyk is a forward of a good level, but he is not a great scorer. There are no standout players in the current Roma team. Even Dybala is no longer the player he used to be. Therefore, we are in a crisis.
Cesco: I still see problems in Dovbyk’s game, even though he scored two goals today and was one of the best. Roma’s performance did not impress me, so the upcoming match against Parma raises concerns.
Fratihno: Dovbyk scored two goals? That doesn’t make him an outstanding forward. Rather, it just reflects the very low level of our opponent, who made such blatant mistakes in defense. Sampdoria played very poorly today. Because of this, we won.
Ceriotti: Dovbyk did well, converting two out of three of his chances, but his second goal was telling. Sampdoria’s defense couldn’t even close down Dovbyk and prevent him from shooting from two meters out. Unfortunately, teams of a higher level won’t defend like that.
Avaro: Dovbyk phenomenally creates great goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates. Once again, he failed to capitalize on a wonderful opportunity today. I don’t even know whether to praise him after such a game or scold him.
Fabio: Ranieri is doing everything possible to ensure Dovbyk scores goals and feels confident. We play with one pure forward, we make ten crossings into the penalty area, and we play to Dovbyk while he’s on the field. But still, the Ukrainian often doesn’t find himself where he’s supposed to be during Roma’s attacks.
Teo: Dovbyk seems to me to be downhearted or even unmotivated. He doesn’t even seem very happy about scoring goals. Sometimes, I think he doesn’t feel comfortable at Roma. Like a person who suffers when going to a hated job.
Albese: Don’t worry about Roma possibly ending up in Serie B; they are much stronger than all the teams in the second division, so they will quickly return to Serie A. Moreover, Dovbyk could become the top scorer in Serie B and score 38 goals in a season.
Fabry: Everyone expects much better performances from Dovbyk. Perhaps he believes he has already achieved everything, but he forgets that the club pays him a huge salary. Plus, we paid around 40 million euros not for a stuffed teddy bear but for a wild beast that will intimidate opponents.
Luca: Dovbyk plays carelessly, as if he is doing a favor for the team and the fans. I don’t know what happened to him, but if he doesn’t change his attitude towards playing in Roma colors, he will have big problems with the fans.
Bolizzatto: Many have already criticized Dovbyk, but there’s information that he still has health issues, namely a bad knee. Yet, he goes out on the field and helps the team. However, anatomically, he receives a dose of criticism even after scoring goals.
Ghislo: When you buy a forward for 36 million euros who was the top scorer in the Spanish league, you expect more from him than just goals from two meters. He fails to capitalize on many more difficult chances.
Osvald: Dovbyk is a good forward, but he doesn’t have a good understanding with his teammates. Or perhaps he has lost his confidence. I watched a montage of his goals in Spain; he converted those chances, which for some reason he doesn’t take at Roma.
Cobb: If Dovbyk scored goals in matches against strong teams, he would be a great forward. But in Serie A, he cannot find such chances in attack. And when teammates create moments for him where he needs to beat the goalkeeper, Dovbyk often gets lost and shoots poorly. That’s why I wouldn’t expect goals from him in the match against Parma.
Flaveo: I don’t think it’s worth inventing nonexistent reasons for Dovbyk’s behavior. It’s obvious that the Ukrainian is dissatisfied with his teammates. He is unhappy with Roma’s play and that it’s more about fighting for survival than for European competition places. Perhaps Dovbyk has realized that he won’t be able to compete with Roma for any trophies. Moreover, I think that the relationship between Ranieri and Dovbyk has broken down. That’s why the Ukrainian plays as if he’s a stranger in this team.
