The 31-year-old footballer prefers to continue his career at «Urarte», which also competes in the Armenian championship. The club's management, coaching staff, and team consist predominantly of Russians.

Additionally, Vakulenko is a graduate of the football school of Donetsk «Shakhtar». He has played for Mariupol's «Illichivets», Donetsk's «Olympic», Kyiv's «Arsenal», and Lviv's «Karpaty». He moved to Armenia over 4 years ago, responding to an invitation from «Ararat-Armenia». From that club, he transferred to «Pyunik».
