Sports doctor Dmitry Bablyuk expressed his opinion on how the doping scandal involving Ukrainian midfielder of London’s Chelsea, Mykhailo Mudryk, may be influenced by the fact that the footballer underwent an independent polygraph procedure in England.
“I can’t stand reading about Mudrik and the polygraph anymore, so I want to clarify some points.
The polygraph does NOT show whether you are lying. It does not identify lies. The polygraph simply records physiological responses to questions.
The machine only reads heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and other physiological indicators, and the whole approach is based on the assumption that lying is a stressful thing and should cause changes in physiological indicators.
However, scientifically and legally, polygraph indicators have no weight, as it is very difficult to link changes in heart rate to lying.
This is not “Love for Survival,” these are serious matters that have tangible consequences.
Considering that the polygraph can be deceived and stress indicators can arise in response to anything, no judicial representatives in any sane country would make decisions based on a polygraph.
Therefore, it cannot be claimed that if a person “passed” the polygraph, then they “are not lying.” In fact, the person simply had the same heart rate throughout their responses to all questions,” Bablyuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
