Famous Ukrainian journalist Mykola Nesenyuk dedicated a post on Facebook to the doping scandal involving Mykhailo Mudryk.
In the noise surrounding footballer Mykhailo Mudryk, the least interesting topic is the discussion of the doping scandal. Because there is nothing to discuss here. All parties will say the necessary words in this situation, and we will never know the truth, as in all similar cases.
I was interested in something else. Some of our football experts have declared that after Mudryk’s inevitable disqualification, the Ukrainian national team has nothing left in store. Are you serious? Do you really think that without a footballer who scored just three goals for the national team over three seasons, the team will no longer survive? Or maybe we should recall this year’s European Championship, which our team failed alongside Mudryk?
In my opinion, the only achievement in Mykhailo Mudryk’s football career is the amount of his contract with Chelsea. By all other metrics, he is just one of the three hundred players in the English Championship.
As for the national team, the only truly outstanding player was Andriy Shevchenko, whose comparison with Mykhailo Mudryk will not hold up under any keyboard. But even without Shevchenko, who for various reasons could not always play for Ukraine, the team did not look helpless at all. It will not look helpless without Mudryk either.
