I’m here, and I will try to fix as many things as possible. The first thing I have to try to fix is to get results, to ensure that we go to our new stadium as a Premier League team.
We hope to see clearer blue skies ahead, and we all need to come together and head toward it. I’m not saying it will be smooth sailing — the Everton players have gotten used to that over the last two or three years. But I genuinely feel that something better awaits us ahead, and we need to look forward and hope that we can plan a better future.
I know the fans, I know what they want. We have to get this season right, but we need to start challenging again. I am really proud of the league positions we have occupied here, and the teams we have finished above. We have regularly challenged Europe. It would be great if we were talking in such terms again, but we can’t talk like that until we rise up, shake off the dust, and become more competitive.
